The Argentine coach spoke ahead of the Champions League clash at Anfield on Wednesday

Atletico Madrid coach Diego Pablo Simeone spoke on Tuesday before his team faces Liverpool at Anfield in the Champions League last 16. His side hold a 1-0 lead from the first leg.

Becaue of the coronavirus, there are various Champions League matches being played behind closed doors, including PSG v Dortmund, Valencia v Atalanta and Barca v Napoli. However this match will go ahead as planned.

"It would not be fair to Liverpool," said Simeone. "We played the first leg in front of our people. Their fans play a big role for their team and it wouldn't be fair for them to miss out."

Simeone looked back to his team's 2-0 win over Juventus last season, which the Italians turned around in the second leg.

"In Turin we could not play and we could not compete, the intention tomorrow is to be able to compete, it will take us closer to being able to stay in the competition," added El Cholo.
