The Argentina legend is never one to keep his opinions to himself and has rounded off on current coach Sampaoli

Diego Maradona has strongly criticised the current Argentina coach, Jorge Sampaoli, after the country's debut at this World Cup ended with a disappointing draw against Iceland.

"I think, playing like that, Sampaoli shouldn't return to Argentina. It's embarrassing that there wasn't any game plan knowing that everyone for Iceland is over six foot tall. We played every corner into the middle of the box and didn't play a short corner once," Maradona told 'Telesur'.

Maradona defended Lionel Messi after the Barcelona star missed a penalty. "I missed five in a row but I was still Maradona. The way Argentina played and the two points which were lost weren't because of Messi's miss," he said. "Leo stepped up and he gave everything he had."
