Depay's goodbye to Lyon fans? "Y'all will appreciate me when I'm gone"

Los motivos por los que el Barça quiere a Depay / | Marta Fernández

Barcelona remain keen on the forward who is Koeman's top winter target

Memphis Depay remains Ronald Koeman's top target to strengthen Barcelona's attack. If the Catalan club's finances allow, they will sign him in January.

The arrival of the Lyon forward has become more necessary following the injury to Ansu Fati, although a centre-back is also needed with Gerard Pique out.

To sign Depay, Barça must cut their wage bill and bring in enough money to cover the costs of signing a player who is available for free in the summer.

In that sense, Martin Braithwaite was seen as a makeweight, although he's found form and goals in recent games.

Remember that Barça had to give up on Depay in the summer because of a lack of money, even though he was willing to drop his salary demands to push a deal through.

In this context, Depay continues to send messages that suggest he will end up at Camp Nou. During a recent international break, while with the Netherlands, he sent a wink to Barça.

And on Sunday, after Lyon's win over Stade de Reims, he sent a message on social media that could be viewed as a goodbye.

Depay did not score in the win and has drawn criticism from his own fans, prompting him to send them a message back: "Y’all will appreciate me when im gone. Enjoy the Sunday," he wrote.

The message will not have down well with Lyon fans as he nears an exit from the French club. Maybe in January.
