De Jong: "It's now time to relax before my presentation at Barça"

The future Barcelona midfielder was disappointed about losing the Nations League final but was looking forward to the next chapter in his career

Frenkie De Jong didn't finish the season as well as he'd expected. Portugal beat Holland 1-0 in the Nations League final but the midfielder insisted he was very proud of his country - and Ajax's - achievements this year.

"The most disappointing moment was when we were eliminated by Tottenham in the semi-finals, more than tonight. It's been a hard season but physically and mentally I've finished well. Now I'm just thinking about going on holiday and my presentation at Barça - which I still don't know when that will be."

De Jong was the man of the match against England in the semi-finals but struggled to get into the game against a more organised opponent. "It was a very difficult match. Portugal were compact and there wasn't space between the defence and the midfield. It wasn't my best game because it was difficult. It's disappointing we weren't able to win," he concluded.
