Barcelona thrown out of Copa de la Reina for an ineligible lineup, will appeal
Geyse was sent off in the competition last season for former club Madrid CFF
Barcelona have been kicked out of the Copa de la Reina for fielding Geyse in their 9-0 last 16 win over Osasuna.
Geyse was sent off in the competition last season playing for Madrid CFF and was due to be serving a suspension.
However, the ban did not appear on the RFEF systems before the game, leading Barca to field the Brazilian in the victory.
Sevilla also did the same with midfielder Nagore Calderon have been eliminated from the cup.
Both clubs have 10 days to appeal the decision and Barça say they plan to do so.
Barça have won the Copa de la Reina in 2020, 2021 and 2022 and nine times in total.
