Real Madrid defender Dani Carvajal will miss the Clasico vs. Barça

The right-back suffered a setback on Friday and won't be available this weekend

Zinedine Zidane has a defensive problem for the Clasico. The Real Madrid coach will be without Sergio Ramos and Raphael Varane for the important game against FC Barcelona. Nacho and Militao will be the only centre-backs available for the game, but there are problems elsewhere in the backline, too.

According to AS, Dani Carvajal's recovery has been set back and, while he was back in training on Wednesday, on Friday he had to train alone. The right-back, save a surprise, will not be fit to make the squad and his return to competitive football will have to wait a little longer.

Carvajal's only played 945 minutes this season across 12 games. The Spain international hasn't played since Feb. 15, when he had only just returned from another injury and lasted less than half an hour before having to come off. In 2021, he's played just 113 minutes of football for his club.

Even if he is included in the Clasico squad, it's most likely that Zidane continues with Lucas Vazquez at right-back. The French coach, who is loathe to change things that are working, won't risk a player that has had so many fitness issues this season.
