The Barça coach was furious Barcelona were not awarded a late penalty

The Clasico, as if it could be any other way, created controversy. For Barcelona coach Ronald Koeman, his side should have been awarded a late penalty for a possible foul by Ferland Mendy on Martin Braithwaite with the score at 2-1 to Real Madrid.

Referee Gil Manzano saw nothing wrong with the challenge and the VAR did not recommend reviewing it.

Koeman, speaking to Movistar after the game, said that it was a "crystal clear penalty. We have to accept it and keep quiet. I have said what I think."

But he continued, saying "I don't know why there's VAR in Spain," before interjecting on himself to ask the journalist Ricardo Sierra what he thought of the decision.

"Is it a penalty?" Koeman asked.

"The referee decides," responded Sierra.

"OK, you don't want to stick your neck out," Koeman said, before deciding to leave the interview early.
