Barcelona and Real Madrid in race for 100th victory in the Clasico
The two teams meet at Valdebebas on Saturday in a big game in the title race
Real Madrid-Barcelona on Saturday will be the 246th Clasico and the Blaugrana will have the chance to match the Madrid's record of 97 wins in the fixture's history. The balance tipped in Madrid's favour when they won 3-1 at Camp Nou on Oct. 24, 2020. Barça last led the way in March 2019 when it was 96-95 in their favour.
The game, which will be played at the Alfredo Di Stefano stadium at Valebebas, will be a challenge for Ronald Koeman's side, who haven't won the Clasico in three outings: a draw at Camp Nou on Dec. 18 2019 and then two defeats, both in La Liga, against Los Blancos in 2020.
The history of the fixture evened out with the arrival of Pep Guardiola as Barça coach. At that point, Madrid had a seven game lead but now it's just one. When Barça beat Madrid 1-0 in 2019 to make it 96-95 in their favour, it was the first time they had led the head-to-head since 1931, when a 3-1 win over Madrid in Les Corts gave them a 6-5 advantage.
With Guardiola's arrival, everything has changed over the last decade and now, with Madrid leading 97-96, the race is on to be the first side to reach 100 Clasico victories.
