Jadon Sancho's reluctance to sign for Chelsea this summer could facilitate Philippe Coutinho's arrival at Stamford Bridge.
Coach Frank Lampart asked owner Roman Abramovich to prioritise a move for Borussia Dortmund's Sancho. However, despite putting 120 million euros on the table, Manchester United moved quicker.
Sancho's opted for Old Trafford, according to this week's reports, and Lampard has been forced to change tack. He will continue to bet on the club's youngsters but will also look to add more talent.
Ajax's Ziyech has already been signed and they will not turn their attention to Coutinho.
Chelsea have money after being banned from signing in recent windows and Coutinho has already shown that he can adapt to the Premier League.
Coutinho, who is currently on loan at Bayern Munich, is open to a move to the London club but there is still a long way to go.
