Atletico Madrid made it through to the Champions League last 16 with a 3-1 win at Porto, although it was also thanks to Liverpool beating AC Milan 2-1 in the Italian capital.
A tense first half in Porto gave way to a wild second, with Antoine Griezmann tapping home to break the deadlock before Yannick Carrasco sent off for the visitors, and then Wendell joined him for an early bath.
A mass brawl on the touchline between staff and subs from both teams led to further red cards, but eventually some football broke out.
Angel Correa doubled Atletico’s lead in the 90th minute after being sent through, with Rodrigo de Paul adding a third after Griezmann’s shot was blocked.
At the other end Sergio Oliveira converted a late penalty but it was too little, too late.
