He will be out for the next three months

Neymar, currently out injured, lamented not being able to help his Paris Saint-Germain team-mates on Tuesday as they lost 2-1 to Real Madrid and exited the Champions League.

"I am sad about the defeat but much sadder because I was not able to be on the pitch helping my team-mates," the Brazil attacker wrote on his Instagram page, accompanied with a photo montage which shows him simultaneously stood on the pitch and collapsed on the floor in disappointment.

Neymar also recognised in his message that he felt "proud" of his team-mates' efforts and for that he congratulated them, ending the message with "Allez Paris."

The Brazilian footballer is in his homeland after undergoing surgery at the Mater Dei hospital in Belo Horizonte on the fractured metatarsal in his right foot.

The injury made his presence in the second leg against Real Madrid in possible, with the Spanish champions progressing to the quarterfinals via a 5-2 aggregate win.

Neymar's expected to be out for up to three months, so will be back just in time for the World Cup -- Brazil's first game is against Switzerland on June 17.
