The Argentine netted his first goal for his new club against Man City

Lionel Messi scored his first goal for PSG on Tuesday in the 2-0 win over Manchester City. He spoke after the game.

“I was looking forward (to scoring), I haven’t played many games yet,” said Messi. “It was my second game in this stadium, but I’m getting used to the team, my team-mates.”

Messi netted in the 74th minute after a one-two with Kylian Mbappe.

“I knew that today was an important day. But we have to continue, there are a lot of games this season.”

Messi became the first player, along with Karim Benzema, to score in 17 consecutive seasons of the Champions League.

On his fellow forwards Neymar and Mbappe, he added: “We are starting to get to know each other, I’m sure we’ll improve. We have to grow as a team. Tonight we played very well, but we have to give everything and control games better.

“We have to keep calm, we won an important match against a team with immense players, who were in a final. It’s a big win but we have to keep improving.”
