The semifinal defeat to Man City on Tuesday could see the duo push to leave this summer

Paris Saint-Germain's sporting director Leonardo spoke to RMC after the French side were knocked out of the Champions League by Manchester City on Tuesday.

Even though the PSG project has been built with winning the Champions League in mind, last year they missed the chance to win it in the final and this year's semifinal defeat increases the threat of their star player leaving.

However, despite that, and despite the Champions League exit, and despite the fact the Ligue 1 title race isn't in their hands with three games to go, Leonardo said: "I am optimistic with respect to the future."

The answer was to the obvious and much-repeated question about when the team's two stars, Neymar and Kylian Mbappe, will renew their contracts. They're both out of contract next summer.

The Brazilian and the Frenchman have not committed to the French club and despite the suggestion several times that the new deals are ready to be signed, there's still no confirmation.

Leonardo added: "Honestly, today is not the day to speak about Neymar and Mbappe's futures nor to announce anything with respect to them."
