Bayern Munich 2-3 PSG: Much more fun than the final

The 2020 final but in a much more exciting version as Neymar thrills

Kylian Mbappe struck twice to earn Mauricio Pochettino’s PSG a thrilling win over Bayern Munich in a Champions League quarter final first leg barnstormer.

It was freezing in snowy Munich and Mbappe had ice in his veins as he fired past Manuel Neuer in the third minute.

Neymar did well in the build up to set up the French forward, who vanquished Barcelona in the last round, and he fired home at the near post. Neuer should have done better with the effort.

Julian Draxler made it two in the 12th minute but the goal was stricken from the records for offside, with Bayern shaking after Paris’s strong start. It was a repeat of the 2020 Champions League final in name only. This was a different beast.

The Bayern machine lurched into life and they began to trouble Keylor Navas, who made some fine saves. However it was PSG who got the next goal, with Marquinhos tucking home after another sublime Neymar assist.

Neuer was called into action after the break to deny Neymar, while Navas at the other end was also lively.

Bayern Munich levelled through Thomas Muller, who headed home a free kick from Joshua Kimmich on the hour mark.

However Mbappe had the final say with a cunning low strike at the near post after shaping to curl it in at the far. Bring on the second leg.
