The forward will be available for the game against Alaves this weekend

Celta Vigo have confirmed the return of Nolito, who rejoins the club from Sevilla and will help them in their fight to stay up in La Liga this season.

Nolito left Celta for Manchester City, with Barcelona also interested at the time, before moving back to Spain to sign for Sevilla in 2017.

He has already passed a medical in Vigo and will now start training with Oscar Garcia's side ahead of their game against Deportivo Alaves at Balaidos this weekend.

Why was the signing allowed?

The long-term injury sustained by the goalkeeper Sergio Alvarez allowed Celta to de-register him an make an emergency signing, similarly to Barcelona's case with Ousmane Dembele and Martin Braithwaite.

Sevilla were happy to let Nolito leave, with the forward's contract up at the end of the month anyway.

Celta currently sit in 17th place in the table, just one place above the relegation zone. They are two points clear of Mallorca, three ahead of Espanyol and have four more than bottom of the table Leganes.
