The Dutch defender leaves for 75m euros plus 10.5m in variables

Juventus have signed Matthijs de Ligt from Ajax. It's now official. Barcelona wanted the defender but in the end he opted to for The Old Lady.

The Italians are paying 75 million euros for the 10 year old, over a five year period, plus 10.5m in variables.

De Light made his debut in 2016 and became Ajax’s youngest captain in 2018. He also made his Holland debut in March 2017.

Barcelona had an agreement with Ajax for De Ligt but for the player himself, playing regularly was a priority.

What ended up tipping the balance was Juve's financial offer. The Italians ended up doubling their initial proposal, above all because of PSG's late intervention.

Juve, in addition, gave in to one of agent Mino Raiola's conditions: a release clause worth 150 million euros which kicks in in 2022. His contract runs until 2024.

The Italians announced him with the slogan 'Turn on De Ligt'.
