Mertens: "Beating Barça will be difficult but the key is to score"

The striker believes anything could happen if Napoli score at the Camp Nou

Napoli will visit the Camp Nou on the 8th August in the second leg of the Champions League Last 16. Despite Barça's struggles in recent weeks, Dries Mertens believes it is going to be tough for the Serie A club to progress. In an interview with UEFA, the striker spoke about the upcoming fixture.

"The only negative from the first match was conceding a goal. We know we are in for a difficult time against Barcelona but if we prepare ourselves well, anything could happen," insisted Mertens.

"At home, they play incredible football and it's going to be difficult, we know this, but we're confident of our own ability. The key will be to score because if we don't, we'll be out. If we have the right idea, anything is possible."

Napoli know all about toppling the best teams in Europe having beaten the reigning champions, Liverpool, in the group stage. "They ran so many kilometres, as if they had three teams, a real machine. It was very difficult to play against them so we feel very proud of that result."

From October until now, plenty has changed at Napoli. The squad has found its best form under new coach Rino Gattuso and will hope to pile on the misery for Barça.
