Juventus defender Daniele Rugani tests positive for coronavirus
The Italian club made the announcement on Wednesday with Serie A suspended
Italian champions Juventus have confirmed that defender Daniele Rugani has tested positive for covid-19, the disease widely known as coronavirus.
Juve made the announcement in a short statement on Wednesday evening, explaining that Rugani was not currently showing any symptoms.
The Serie A side revealed they are in the process of activating all the isolation procedures, which is likely to mean the majority, if not all of their first-team players will have to go into quarantine.
Rugani did not play in Sunday's win over Inter but he was on the bench and was involved in the post-match celebrations.
Italy is at the centre of the coronavirus outbreak and the country is currently locked down. Serie A has been suspended until, at least, April 3.
Here is Juventus' statement:
"The footballer, Daniele Rugani has tested positive for Coronavirus-COVID-19 and is currently asymptomatic.
"Juventus Football Club is currently activating all the isolation procedures required by law, including those who have had contact with him."
