The Polish striker had a meeting with Bayern's new coach, Niko Kovac, and decided he won't leave the German champions

Bayern Munich have closed the door on Robert Lewandowski's potential exit from the club. The German coach, Niko Kovac, has told Sport Bild that the Polish striker won't leave the club this summer and as such, won't be joining Real Madrid.

Lewandowski and the coach had a conversation about his future last week. "Robert knows what I think of him and what I expect from him. Everyone at the club knows his quality. Without any doubt he's one of the top three strikers in the world. We won't give him up," added Kovac.

Lewandowski accepted his new coach's words. "I was very happy," revealed Kovac following his talk with the striker.

This means Real Madrid now need to cross out another name on their shortlist this summer. The German transfer market closes on the 31st August so there's still time for Florentino Perez to try and turn around the situation if he feels a transfer is possible.
