The Bayern Munich tore ligaments in his ankle in the friendly against AC Milan

He flew back to Munich for surgery and will be out for three months

Juan Bernat, the Bayern Munich left back, will be out for three months after undergoing surgery to repair the torn ligaments he suffered in his left ankle in the first half of the German club’s friendly against AC Milan in the International Champions Cup.

The defender left the club’s Asian tour and returned to Munich, where he was examined before being operated on by Dr Markus Walther.

The operation went as planned but the player will miss the start of the Bundesliga and the first games of the group stages of the Champions League due to his three month layoff. The player had been linked with Manchester City but this injury and City's activity in the transfer market make this extremely unlikely now.
