Real Betis a candidate to take Valencia's place in the Spanish Super Cup

Valencia are not happy with the way the money will be shared out among the four clubs who are set to take part in the revamped Spanish Super Cup. 

Barcelona, Real Madrid and Atletico are all in agreement with the way the cash will be distributed, but Valencia owner Peter Lim and president Anil Murthy are not and are threatening to pull out of the competition. 

The Spanish Federation (RFEF) will earn 120 million euros during the three years in which they have agreed the Super Cup will take place in Saudi Arabia. Half of that will go to the clubs that take part and the rest will trickle down the football pyramid, according to RFEF chief Luis Rubiales. 

It's reported that Valencia -- even if they win the competition -- will pocket less than Madrid. Los Che are not happy as they, as Copa del Rey winners, would have been in any Super Cup, while Madrid and Atletico only qualify for the new format due to their league finishes. 

Given the situation, Real Betis, who were the fourth semifinalists in last season's Copa (Barça, Madrid and Valencia being the other three) would be chosen to take their place if Valencia drop out. 

It has been specified that Valencia would not be fined or punished if they did decide not to take part in the competition in Saudi Arabia in January, 

Valencia are scheduled to play Madrid on Jan.8, with Barça playing Atletico on Jan.9. The final will take place on Jan.12. All three games will be played in Jeddah.
