The Turkish club could move after Espanyol were relegated from La Liga

According to 'Fotospor,' Besiktas want to sign Espanyol striker Wu Lei after the Barcelona-based side were relegated from La Liga last week.

The Turkish side believe a deal could be possible for the Chinese international, who they have targetted before, now that Espanyol have lost their top-flight status.

Besiktas president Ahmet Nur Çebi feels Wu Lei would be a good signing on the pitch and also hopes ghe would bring in a new group of sponsors from China.

After signing Wu Lei, Espanyol, who have Chinese owners, brokered sponsorship deals with Irongest, Suanfarma Pharmaceutical Group, iFlyTek and China Mobile in China.

Thanks to Wu Lei, Espanyol have almost 10 million followers in China and sold around 250,000 shirts in the Asian country.

On Jan. 28, 2019, the official broadcaster of Spanish football in China, PPTV, announced that 25 million people watched the Espanyol game against Real Valladolid when Wu Lei scored his first goal for the club.

These are all reasons, in addition to the striker's quality, Besiktas have to sign him. Will they managed to convince him to leave Espanyol, though?
