Goals from Pique, Messi and Suarez handed Barca victory to maintain their seven point lead
Ter Stegen 6 - Hard to rate the German when the opponents barely made it near his box, but was beaten by a good long shot from De Tomas. He could only applaud.
Nelson Semedo 8 - He played a very good game, doing Alba’s role on the right flank. Earned the penalty for 2-1 and was decisive in the 3-1.
Gerard Pique 8 - Owner of his territory, there is no replacement for Pique and he doesn’t need one either. He plays it all because nobody performs like him, and because he knows how to save energy. Beaten by De Tomas for the 1-0 but equalised for Barca, influential in any phase of the play.
Samuel Umtiti 6 - Returned to the starting line-up and offered a better performance than in Seville, although still giving the impression that he’s not 100 per cent.
Jordi Alba 6 - Calm after renewing, the defender offers solutions tirelessly to the team in all the different lines. Less incisive than on other occasions this time though.
Sergio Busquets 7 - A more vertical version of himself because the game needed it. Great headed pass to Messi which nearly ended in a goal.
Arthur Melo 6 - Asked for the ball a lot, tried to order the team, tried everything, but it was hard and in the end it was difficult to unpick Rayo. Withdrawn at half-time.
Arturo Vidal 7 - Fought everywhere he could, throwing himself into tackles, getting the ball back and moving it on without complications. Very good.
Philippe Coutinho 3 - When everything he does, he does badly, it’s not just his problem, it’s the team’s, who cannot allow the luxury of playing with one player less at this stage of the season.
Leo Messi 7 - Everything went through him, in the creation phase and also the finishing stage. Tried everything but couldn’t strike, bar from the penalty spot.
Luis Suarez 7 - Ran a lot but always with an idea - unlike on other occasions - looking to create space against a cement backline. Scored at the end.

Difícil puntuar al alemán cuando el rival ni siquiera se acerca a tu área. Y, sin embargo, De Tomás le sorprendió con un gran disparo desde fuera del área. Solo pudo aplaudir. Poco más tuvo que hacer.
Jugó un gran partido, ejerciendo el papel que suele hacer Alba por la banda izquierda, pero por la suya. Provocó el penalti del 2-1 y fue decisivo en la jugada del 3-1. Sigue creciendo.
Amo y señor de su territorio, no tiene recambio y, además, no lo necesita. Lo juega todo porque nadie rinde como él y, también, porque sabe ahorrar esfuerzos innecesarios. De Tomás le superó en el 0-1, pero deshizo el entuerto empatando de cabeza. Se siente libre para ser influyente en cualquier faceta del juego.
Volvió a la titularidad y ofreció mejor rendimiento que ante el Sevilla, pero da la impresión de que aún no está al cien por cien. Le falta continuidad y recuperar sensaciones.
Sereno y tranquilo tras haber renovado, el lateral sigue a lo suyo, ofrecer soluciones sin descanso al equipo en todas las líneas. Menos incisivo que otras veces, dejó que brillara Semedo.
Ofreció una versión algo más vertical porque el partido lo requería. Entre su repertorio, un pase rematado de cabeza por Messi que casi acaba en gol. Tiró la presión alta y estuvo en todos lados.
Pidió todos los balones, buscando ordenar al equipo desde el balón para desordenar, a su vez, al rival. Lo intentó todo, pero era difícil deshacer el nudo del Rayo. No salió tras el descanso.
Rascó todo lo que se podía rascar echándose al suelo con frecuencia. Robó balones y, cuando lo recuperaba para el Barça, lo cedía sin complicarse. Muy bien.
Cuando todo lo que hace lo hace mal, el problema ya no es solo suyo, sino del equipo, que no puede permitirse el lujo de jugar con uno menos a estas alturas de la temporada.
Todo pasaba por él, tanto en la creación como a la hora de acabar las jugadas. Lo intentó de todas las maneras posibles y no perdonó desde los once metros para adelantar al equipo. Todo pasa por él.
Corrió mucho, pero, al contrario que en otras ocasiones, lo hizo siempre con sentido, buscando crear espacios ante una defensa de cemento. Partido de pico y pala que culminó con el gol de la tranquilidad.
Su fútbol es complicado de explicar y mucho más de entender. Es la anarquía hecha futbolista y combina acciones inverosímiles con otras de futbolista elegido. Si gana regularidad, será de los grandes.
No descansa ni cuando puede hacerlo. Se hace difícil entender los motivos de su entrada ante el Rayo teniendo en cuanta lo que viene por delante.
Salió para que Busquets pudiera dejar el césped tras un enorme esfuerzo.
