Zabaleta: Man City is the best place for Leo Messi
Pep Guardiola's City will be ideal if Messi leaves Barca, says his former NT compatriot
Former Argentina defender Pablo Zabaleta, 35, believes that his compatriot Leo Messi should sign for Pep Guardiola's Manchester City when he can leave for free next summer.
The former City and West Ham right-back thinks Messi can "enjoy some years" in the PL.
"It's sad to see Messi in this situation," said Zabaleta. "I never thought he would reach the last year of his contract with Barcelona.
"The team is not playing well and it seems he's not enjoying his football. We'll see what happens with Messi at the end of the season."
Messi tried to force his way out of Camp Nou this summer but Barcelona would not let him leave.
"He has a good friend at City in Sergio (Aguero) and has worked with Pep at Barca. Some people in the board know Messi too.
"All players would like to have an experience in the Premier League, it's the best league in the world and maybe he'll want to enjoy some years there. I'd like to see Messi, if he decides to go to another club, in England."
