Barcelona and Palmeiras have sealed Mina's deal

Sporting director Alexandre Mattos agreed the deal in Barcelona this week

Yerry Mina will land in Barcelona next summer, after the Russia 2018 World Cup. Palmeiras' director of football Alexandre Mattos has been in Barcelona this week to meet with the Catalan club's sporting directors, led by Pep Segura. Barcelona have a preferential option on the Colombian cente-back, purchased in May 2016.

In the meeting Barcelona decided they would not sign him in the winter window, keeping the price at 9 million euros. That means Palmeiras will hit their objective of keeping Mina to play in the first phase of the Copa Libertadores 2019.

The defender is considered one of the most promising in South America, and has given his nod to the deal. Barcelona believe it's best for the player to keep developing and then come to Barcelona, training in pre-season with his new team-mates to start the adaptation process.

He will eventually end up taking one of the spots in the squad for foreign players, one of the reasons the club are going to wait for him. Mina turns 23 on the 23rd, and is currently out injured.
