Galatasaray kept them out and it will be all to play for in Istanbul next Thursday

It's been 16 games and 93 days since Barcelona were last prevented from scoring but happened again against Galatasaray on Thursday in the Europa League.

The last time was in very different circumstances: the 3-0 loss to Bayern Munich in Germany which saw Barça knocked out of the Champions League.

That night, not only did Barça fail to score, but they conceded three as they were knocked into the Europa League at the expense of Benfica and Bayern.

On Thursday, Barça didn't score, but they didn't concede, either, so they travel to Istanbul next week with the tie against Galatasaray alive.

Xavi left Munich angry and calling for the start of a "new era" but there was less drama after Thursday's stalemate. Since Munich, Barça had scored in 16 successive games, scoring 42 goals in that time at an impressive average of 2.6 goals per game. They have conceded 22.
