Xavi: Why can't we win the Champions League?
The blaugrana coach has stated that dreaming is free and that they are going to compete
Xavi Hernández will start his first Champions League season at the Camp Nou next Wednesday against Viktoria Plzen. With a renewed team and a lot of talent in their ranks, the expectations in this Barça are high, so he stressed that there is enthusiasm and can hope to deliver a great performance.
"Why can't we win the Champions League, we have to reach at least the last 16 and dreaming is free".
Later he added: "Of course, we can dream, I want to win, I want to win LaLiga, the Champions League, the Cup, the Super Cup, but from here to being a favourite... you have to be humble".
On several occasions, he took the pressure off his players, but what he wanted to make clear is that:
"You can dream, otherwise I would be at home".
Excitement, this is the word that Xavi repeated this afternoon, even though the group is more complicated:
"It's the Champions League, we've been drawn into the most difficult group in recent years, but we have all the excitement in the world".
At the same time, he assessed Viktoria Plzen as:
"An opponent who has nothing to lose. It's a tough game for us against a very physical team, both in terms of height and competitiveness".
"It's the Champions League and we're playing at home".
