Xavi wants to sign top level left winger for Barcelona next season

The Barça coach wants to improve the attack and the club are exploring options

Barcelona's planning for the next project is practically complete, pending LaLiga's approval to be able to sign players, something that has not yet been completely finalised. The sporting department is optimistic and has already begun to close deals for free agents. A central defender (Inigo Martinez), a midfielder (Illay Gundogan), a striker -(Aubameyang) and the return of Lionel Messi are all on the cards.

So far, everything seems to have been drawn and agreed, while waiting for another midfielder and, perhaps, a full-back at the last minute. But the position that is generating the most debate is that of the left winger. There will be a revolution that could lead to the departure of Ansu Fati and the arrival of two new players. A complete change in order to give the team many more options to open up the field.

The first scenario drawn up by the Blaugrana hierarchy has two players chosen for this position: Yannick Carrasco and Abde. Two good players who would need practically no investment, who have experience in the Primera Division and with different profiles: one is already a veteran international and the Moroccan, a player to grow as a Blaugrana.

Xavi believes that this is a key position for the team's attacking play and he is not sure about it. He has very good reports on Carrasco, but he does not see him as an undisputed starter and Abde generates doubts. In fact, his public messages about the Moroccan player have been extremely cold. And the fact is that the coaches believe that he lacks consistency and at Barça they need a player who shines every weekend and not intermittently.

Abde has the challenge of convincing him and, if he does not manager it, there will be no problems to close a big transfer. Another thing is that Abde ends up exploding spectacularly away from Camp Nou and the decision ends up burning those who make it.

Both the coach and the sporting department are aware that the ideal would be to sign a player who is absolutely differential to play on the left. If Dembélé and Raphinha will be on the right, on the left they would need a player of the highest level.

And, at the club, they know that there will be one or more opportunities to arrive on loan in the coming weeks. Some names have already been mentioned and anything can happen, although at Barça they are also clear that, if Messi comes, there won't be room for everyone.

There is debate about this winger playing on the left and this can still take many twists and turns. For now, Barça are listening and waiting for a final decision... as long as it is possible to make signings.
