Xavi on Lionel Messi: I noticed a change in the last few days

Xavi spoke on "Jijantes" about Leo Messi's situation and stated that he noticed "a change a few days or weeks ago that perhaps he didn't see it so clearly". The Blaugrana coach admitted that in these circumstances there is a lack of empathy from everyone as being a player like the Argentine "can't be easy".

Messi's return to the club of his love was tricky, but the possibility of seeing the best player in history dressed in Blaugrana flooded all Culés with excitement in the last few days. Xavi has stressed that he noticed a shift regarding a possible return, and that it was not easy to square all the details to make it possible.

"The excitement with Leo has been generated because I have spoken a lot with him. We were all very excited about it. The first one was him. The circumstances didn't work out," revealed the coach in his chat with Gerard Romero.

Xavi spoke about how Messi could contribute to this new Barça project with many young players as pillars of his tactical scheme. The man from Terrassa assured that "the last thing I want is to deceive the Barça fans. The decision was up to him and he was very excited about it".

Asked how this whole situation has been resolved, the coach stated that it was Leo's father who called the club to communicate his decision not to return to Barça. 

It is clear that the club and the coach did everything possible to make Leo Messi's return to Barça a reality, but the situations on both sides have made it impossible for this to happen. The Argentinian will play next season for Inter Miami, in the MLS in the United States.
