Xavi offers update on Abde's Barça future following Osasuna form
The winger could be back at Camp Nou this summer to play for the first team
Barça coach Xavi Hernández left the door open on Abde's future at Barcelona. He made it clear that he is having a great season in Osasuna but did not guarantee that will mean a place back at Camp Nou.
"He is playing very well at Osasuna and has made the most of his loan spell," Xavi said. "In the summer he will come back, we will look at him, evaluate the situation and decide what we are going to do. I think he can be an important player in the future. We will see."
Xavi commented that he would like him to have regularity.
He added: "He's making the most of his loan spell, he's making a difference. He is being professional. He is playing very well. He has played very good games in Osasuna and the challenge is that in Barça he always has this continuity.
"The level he showed yesterday with Osasuna (scoring twice) is the level he should always show because this is Barça. Here he must show his best level and have continuity. I insist that we will evaluate him and decide what to do with him."
The coach added that "in Pamplona they are delighted with his participation and his professionalism and that is very good. We are happy with his performances."
It is clear from Xavi's words that Abde will return for pre-season and will have to earn a place in the squad. Xavi will evaluate things and make a decision. Abde wanted certain guarantees to play in order to be part of the squad because he wants to progress and, moreover, he has offers from important clubs who do see him as a player who can be absolutely decisive.
