Xavi Hernandez unhappy but 'proud' after Real Betis defeat

Barcelona fell 1-0 at home against the visitors but had the better of the second half

Xavi Hernandez was unhappy about the 1-0 defeat by Real Betis. The coach finished the game with the feeling his team deserved more.

“We have to stop these counters,” said Xavi. “it’s a goal that annoyed me, because we had spoken in the week, that we had to make a foul (in that situation). We have to be more tactical. They can’t catch you on a counter. We can’t allow a goal like the one we conceded. It’s our error.

“(Losing) is too much of a punishment. It’s a shame not to take even a point. A pity, because we played really well for 25 minutes. Like against Villarreal our goal arrived when we were suffering, today we let in the goal when we were playing better. That’s football.”

Despite the defeat he was pleased with some aspects of the game.

“We have to stay with the positives and the Barcelona of the second half is the Barcelona that we want. We were hopeful in taking the game, because we were on a good path. Betis were closed in and I think (losing) is too much of a punishment. I’m proud of the team.”
