The Barça boss was asked how Pique's doing after a controversial week

Barcelona coach Xavi Hernandez is not thinking of doing without Gerard Pique for the rest of the season. Not even after the recent controversy involving his voice messages with Luis Rubiales, the RFEF president, and his involvement in taking the Spanish Supercopa to Saudi Arabia.

"Geri is an extrovert, he likes to be spoken about," Xavi said Wednesday. "We are opposites in that sense, I am more prudent, more diplomatic, him not so much, that's Gerard, I know him.

"If he was distracted or not focused, I'd be the first to warn him. But I think this motivates him, it fuels him, this is his drug, in a good sense, his adrenaline. He's very focused and implicated, his performances have been brutal and we missed him last few games. I think he's doing good, as for the discomfort he's fine.

"He's an intelligent guy. He knows what he needs and this could even make him compete better!"

Pique has returned to the squad for Thursday's trip to Real Sociedad after missing the last three matches with a minor problem.
