The Spanish left back has done well when called on, even in central defence
Marcos Alonso will stay at Barca although the deal over his renewal is yet to be completed.
The coach and the sporting staff have given the nod to him staying and negotiations will take place in February, once the January market is dealt with. We will have to see whether he stays on for one or two more years.
At Barcelona they are satisfied with his performances. He arrived on a low-cost deal, earning less than he did at Chelsea.
Alonso has played a lot of minutes, despite arriving on the final day of the market.
Xavi has used him both at centre-back and at left-back and he's done well in both spots. His age and experience is helpful for the younger players in the dressing room too.
Alonso would like to sign on for two years but the club may choose to keep going season to season.
