The young midfielder needs minutes and will get them against Cornella

Xavi Hernández explained ahead of Barcelona's La Liga match against Sevilla (Sunday 5 February, Camp Nou, 21.00) the reason why Pablo Torre was left out of the squad and instead is with Rafa Márquez's team for Barça Atlètic's match against Cornellà.

Barça's coach spoke to the media ahead of that Sevilla clash, which will open the second half of the season, with Barça leading the standings with 50 points.

In the case of Pablo Torre, Xavi recalled that he has already spoken to the young player and explained his situation in the squad and the need for him to continue accumulating minutes so as not to stagnate.

He said that Torre "has not played for several games now and we have been talking with him. He needs rhythm and games. With the age he is, he can't go three or four games without playing and it's good that he plays, that's what I told him when we signed him."

Xavi added: "He will play with the reserve team and he will enjoy and compete, that rhythm will make him ready when he moves up to the first team if we need him."
