Former Barcelona midfielder Xavi Hernandez and his partner, Nuria Cunillera, have made a donation worth one million euros to the Hospital Clinic in Barcelona to support the fight against coronavirus.

Hospital Clínic announced the donation from Xavi, currently the coach of Qatari side Al-Sadd, on Twitter on Saturday. The post included a video of the Barça legend asking for more people to collaborate with the 'Reposta Coronavirus' campaign.

"Nuria and I support the fight against coronavirus at the Hospital Clinic in Barcelona," he said. "Thanks to all the contributions that have been received, the hospital is acquiring equipment for professionals and patients.

The prestigious hospital is at the centre of the fight against Covid-19 in Catalonia and for that reason is leading a campaign in the hope of gaining more resources.

Donations help the acquisition of sanitary material during the emergency.
