Xavi-De Jong to meet and discuss the Dutchman's future at Barça

The footballer is very reluctant to leave but also wants clarity in his role for the team

Frenkie de Jong has just joined the Barça camp along with the rest of his international teammates, however, there are still a lot of doubts about his future. The Dutch player has two offers on the table and will make a decision in the coming hours, something that can influence the transfer plans of each of the teams in the remainder of the summer. De Jong wants to talk to Xavi Hernandez to know what his role in the team will be, however nothing has been decided as of yet. The 25 year old would like to remain at Camp Nou and, for now, his entourage has not talked about a possible salary reduction, but Barça could be interested in selling him if they receive bids exceeding 80 million euros.

The Dutch midfielder's intentions have been clear for a few weeks now. The player signed to succeed at Barça and has no need to leave the Blaugrana. However, at the end of last season he was somewhat dissatisfied with his lack of impact in the team. Xavi had always ended up substituting him in most games and the Dutch star knows that competition will be fierce with the continuity of Busquets, the consolidation of Pedri, the emergence of Gavi, as well as the arrival of Kessié. De Jong wants to know firsthand what the coach's plans for him are before he makes a decision, although personally he is still willing to continue.

The Cataln club are currently listening to offers. They are waiting for Chelsea's final proposal and for United to raise their bid and; only then will they make a decision. The clubs will also have to match or better his current wages, if they are to change his mind. His entourage have been advising him that perhaps it is the time to listen to proposals which can be beneficial to his future at a sporting and economic level.

De Jong's departure could play a major role in several other possible transfer, including the signing of Bernado Silva. Barça wants to try to sign Manchester City player, who has indicated in the past that he prefers to play in Spain. It is likely that the blaugrana club will only be able to undertake this incorporation in the event that De Jong leaves or significantly reduces his salary, which will then allow them to pursue other deals.
