The Barcelona coach spoke about the chances of signing the Man City midfielder

Barcelona coach Xavi Hernandez says he "never loses hope" in relation to signing Bernardo Silva, but he admits a deal for the Manchester City man will be difficult.

Xavi was speaking to the press before Barça's game against Real Valladolid on Sunday. Here's what he said:

Bernardo Silva: "You never lose hope, but honestly it is going to be difficult. It is not an easy situation, there have to be exits on our part. It's really difficult, really difficult."

Full-back situation: "I think with Jordi (Alba) and seeing Balde's projection, we seem well covered at left-back. On the right, we don't have a natural option beyond (Sergiño) Dest, who knows what his situation is. We will see how the market is but the club's intention is to strengthen at right-back."

Martin Braithwaite exit: "He is a Barça player, he has a contract (...) he has known clearly since May when I told him that we don't count on him that he has to look for an exit. From there, it depends on the market, the options he has. He knows my posture, I was very clear on that."

Gerard Pique: "I was clear with him and told him before the holidays we would strengthen, there would be a lot of competition and it would not be easy for him, but there are only two games gone (...) he can play important role in other areas for us as well. It will all depend on circumstances and opportunities at the end of the day."

More transfers: "There is a best case scenario, a less good one, and the worst case scenario. Three scenarios and we will see where we are when the market closes on Thursday. All of them are possible. And then we work with the players that are in the squad. Five days left and a lot can happen, in terms of ins and outs."
