Xavi arrives in Barcelona as speculation mounts about Koeman's future

The Al Sadd coach flew into the city for a holiday following the end of the season in Qatar

Xavi Hernandez arrived in Barcelona on Monday from Qatar for a holiday but will take advantage of his return to the city to hold talks with the club about taking over as coach.

Despite the fact he's just renewed with Al Sadd until 2023, he would be allowed to come back to Barça for free if the club make an offer he can't refuse.

Barça are looking to change coach ahead of next season and everything suggests Ronald Koeman will take charge of his last match this weekend at Eibar.

The Catalan club are immersed in negotiations with Xavi, not just on the financial side of a deal, but on the conditions in which he would take over.

Xavi has already held talks with Mateu Alemany to talk about how the squad could look next season.

The former Barça midfielder already had a plan in place with Victor Font, who lost the elections to become Barça president to Joan Laporta in March.

That plan saw Xavi take on a lot of control at the club, beyond just first-team matters, but Laporta's election win pushed Xavi to renew with Al Sadd.

However, Laporta is exploring options to replace Koeman and is contemplating Xaxi as an option after Barça's title hopes were ended on Sunday.
