Barcelona are very happy with their goalkeeping options at present but are keeping an eye on the market should the Dutch keeper leave this summer

Barcelona are currently looking to shape up their squad ahead of the 2018/19 season as Ernesto Valverde looks to win back the Champions League. That is the goal for both him and the players next year and he's been crucially backed by Messi following their domestic double last season. This redesigning of the team could also include a new backup goalkeeper.

Although at the moment there isn't any concern about potential changes, Barcelona are looking at options to strengthen their goalkeeping department. The club are more than satisified with the level and competitiveness between Marc-Andre ter Stegen and Jasper Cillessen, but the growing interest in the latter has caused Barcelona to be on alert.

Cillessen wants a bigger role next season. He arrived at Barcelona after being an indisputable starter at Ajax as well as for the Netherlands. Jasper has shown his quality and professionalism but he knows that in LaLiga and the Champions League he'll be nothing more than a backup to ter Stegen. To only start in the Copa del Rey isn't enough for him.

For this reason Cillessen has listened to interest from Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal and Napoli through his agents. It's a summer where a lot of big clubs are looking for a starting goalkeeper and Barcelona are fortunate enough to have two on their books.

Jasper has told Barcelona that he's happy at the club but that if an interesting offer come in for him, and for the club, that he'd consider it.

Due to the demand for goalkeepers Getafe have tied down Joel Robles to a new deal. Bayer Leverkusen's Bernd Leno is close to signing for Arsenal, Torino are trying out Salvatore Sirigu's contract and Milan, who have already signed Pepe Reina, are keeping tabs on Tim Krul.

There has also been talk of Rui Patricio, the Portuguese goalkeeper who is available on a free after cancelling his contract at Sporting Clube. However Barcelona's main hope, and it's shared by Valverde as well, is that ter Stegen and Cillessen both stay at the club this summer.
