The duo linked well in a 2-2 draw between the Netherlands and Scotland on Wednesday

Georginio Wijnaldum assisted Memphis Depay... and the forward didn't waste the chance to draw the Netherlands level against Scotland at 1-1 on Wednesday.

The warm-up match for this summer's European Championships didn't serve for much, but it did offer the chance to see the connection between the Liverpool midfielder and Lyon striker.

A connection, of course, which could soon be seen at Camp Nou if Barcelona end up signing both players on free transfer when their contracts expire with their respective clubs this month.

For the moment, they've shown the chemistry they have and the Netherlands have benefitted from that. Next season it could be Barça's chance.

There were also minutes for a player who is already a Barça player in Frenkie de Jong, although both he and Wijnaldum came off after half an hour, as pre-agreed with coach Frank de Boer.

Depay's first goal cancelled out Jack Hendry's opener in the Algarve and the Lyon man scored his second in the last minute to earn a 2-2 draw after Scotland had re-taken the lead through Kevin Nisbet.
