Why the Gavi contract renewal could take a while
The midfielder is getting a lot of offers from elsewhere which are tempting
One of Barcelona’s main objectives is renewing Gavi’s contract. It expires in June 2023.
Per TV3, the negotiations are not close to being finished, with Gavi receiving a lot of proposals from big clubs on the continent.
They have even had some meetings and contact with Gavi’s people.
At Camp Nou, they are sure they want to keep Gavi but president Joan Laporta has made it clear that they cannot inflate the wage bill again like under Bartomeu.
“We want them to stay and they want to stay,” said the president though, knowing that Gavi (and Ronald Araujo) are key.
