Why did Dembele avoid medical tests over his latest hamstring injury?

The Frenchman didn't want to admit that he could be injured once again

Ousmane Dembele is still recovering from the injury he picked up at San Mames, a hamstring problem which ruled him out for five weeks.

In the 81st minute of the game, the television cameras caught him feeling the area of the muscle affected, minutes before he lost his runner, Capa, in the build-up to Aduriz's winner.

Barcelona's medical staff asked him after the game if he had a problem but he assured that it was nothing, just cramp. However, after the Friday game, he was called for medical tests to confirm it was nothing, but he insisted that was not necessary.

Dembele kept his plans in place and returned to France for the weekend, not going for tests. On the Monday when he returned to training, his injury was finally confirmed.

According to sources close to the player, Dembele is passing through a tough moment due to the injuries he's suffered at Barça, which have prevented his progress, despite some good signs when he has played.

They say the reason he avoided tests is that he was afraid of getting another injury. "He didn't want to hear that he was injured again," sources say.

His way out of that was to carry on as if nothing happened, to live his normal life and not give importance to the slight pain he had felt.

When he got back to Barcelona, he was disappointed, because the club's medical team determined the extent of the knock. Obviously, it's an error of youth. Dembele has huge potential but he still doesn't want to listen to his body -- something he must learn to do quickly.
