When Junior Firpo plays, Barcelona are almost guaranteed to win
The left-back has become a kind of talisman after losing his first game at Granada
Junior Firpo was a necessary signing last summer. Barcelona needed a left-back to compete with Jordi Alba or, at least, to enable him to take a rest from time to time. He had a tough start, losing at Granada in his first start, where he was criticised for one of the goals. However, without making a fuss, he has improved little by little and has reached the final phase of the season surrounded by positive sensations.
In his last 12 appearances, Barça have won all 12 games. Those appearances have tended to come in small groups of games, coinciding with fitness issues for Alba. One of his toughest games was against Atletico Madrid at the Wanda, when Barça won 1-0.
Copa & Supercopa
Junior has not lost in the Champions League -- two wins and a draw -- and in the Copa del Rey won two games. He did not take part in the defeat in Bilbao against Athletic Club. He also missed the Supercopa KO against Atletico in Saudi Arabia.
Booking
However against Leganes he was booked for the fourth time this season and is now just one booking away from a ban. Luis Suarez and Arturo Vidal are the other Barça players walking the suspension tightrope.
