Pique criticised the club in an explosive interview on Friday

Ronald Koeman was asked on Friday about Gerard Pique's interview with La Vanguardia on the eve of the Clasico against Real Madrid.

Pique was critical of president Josep Maria Bartomeu and the relationship with I3 Ventures for posts made on social media, saying it was an "atrocity" that the club paid for a company to defame current and former Barça players.

In addition, Pique said he could not believe that Jaume Masferrer, the director at the root of the I3 Ventures saga known as Barçagate, is still at the club.

Asked about it, Koeman said: "Gerard's been here for many years. I have just been back for two, three months now. He has his opinion and I respect his opinion.

"He is an intelligent person who knows if he does an interview of this type he's going to play well tomorrow. He has been here for many more years than me. I respect any opinion.

"That he's focused on the game tomorrow is the most important thing and seeing him in training it's clear that he is."
