Ivan Rakitic has been one of Ernesto Valverde's most used players since he took over at Barcelona in the summer.
With Luis Enrique, the Croatian was important, but under Valverde, he has regained the status which he had begun to lose last season.
He is now playing much closer to Sergio Busquets than in other seasons and has emerged as one of the leaders in the side's play.
However, before moving to Barça he was a key player in Unai Emery's Sevilla side. The Basque coach praised him in an interview on beIN Sports for Universo Valdano.
"There are players that carry the team in their hear, those are the ones that transmit what you want. At Sevilla, it was Rakitic," Emery said.
And the Paris Saint-Germain coach revealed what Rakitic asked of him: "He asked me to be captain. It's the biggest committment there is. And he wanted it."
