The Barça coach admitted a forward is required after Munir left

Barcelona coach Ernesto Valverde has spoken about the possibility of signing a striker in January to take the place of Munir, who left for Seville this week. He says the club will look at several options.

"We have to assess it, it's clear that after Munir left we have space. We will see if we can bring in a player, but we also have to keep in mind the financial side of the deal. We will see if we can sign manage it, if someone can come in," Valverde said.

The coach also said that if no forward comes in this month, he will look to the B team, although he warned that Abel Ruiz "is injured" and Rafa Mujica "is banned" for this weekend's game against Eibar.

Asked about the chances of signing Alvaro Morata from Chelsea, he responded: "He's a great player but he plays for another team who we respect a lot."

TYPE OF PLAYER

Valverde was also asked what type of forward he would like to sign this month.

He said: "I don't know. In these circumstances, someone, if they do come, who can adapt quickly, as is the case with [defender Jeison] Murillo, who's come in [on a six-month loan from Valenca] and played immediately.

"That's the important thing: that they know how this [club and league] works and can play straight away. If no one comes in, though, we will move forward with what we have."
