Ernesto Valverde took training at the Red Bull Arena Training Facility on Sunday after Barça’s 2-1 win over Juventus.
The new manager got off to a winning start after Neymar starred and scored both of Barça’s goals. Nelson Semedo, the new full back signed from Benfica, made his debut. Nevertheless, it was the Brazilian who continues to attract attention on and off the field, with his future at the club still unclear.
Valverde, who cancelled the second session planned for the afternoon, worked with the players available. Luis Suárez, who was limping after suffering bruising on his right leg after a strong tackle from his ‘old friend’ Chiellini, could not train at the same level as his teammates and his progress will be monitored over the next few days. He is not thought to be a doubt for the match against Manchester United on 26 July.
