Valencia will improve Joao Cancelo's contract amid Barça interest
The defender does not want to flee Mestalla while the club are in such a delicate position
Valencia defender Joao Cancelo will continue where he is, at least until June 2017. Los Che are ready to improve his contract to compensate for the performances he's offering.
Cancelo will see his salary increase, but his release clause will remain at 30 million euros. However, he could be sold in the summer, even though his deal runs until 2021, if an offer arrives which Valencia feel is suitable.
Remember that Barcelona are interested in the right-back and have followed him for some time. They've been in contact with his agent, Jorge Mendes, but for now have not pushed forward with a move for the player.
Cancelo is grateful to Valencia for the posture they have taken. Not just for the improved terms, but for the fact it allows him to continue in the club's first team.
He is very committed to the club and does not have any intention to leave while they're in such a complicated situation at the wrong end of the table. Cancelo wants to help the team and will continue to work hard for Valencia.
