Valencia midfielder Carlos Soler waiting on Barcelona's interest

Frenkie de Jong's future is directly related to Spain international Soler's

Carlos Soler could become one of Barcelona's surprise signings of the summer. The Valencia player didn't expect an approach from the Catalan club, but at the moment he's the top target to replace Frenkie de Jong if the midfielder is sold.

Soler wants to wait and see what happens now because his priority, if he ends up leaving Valencia, would be to sign for Barça.

His contract expires in 2023 and talks to renew have so far failed to yield an agreement with the club in an institutional crisis that could end with the exit of coach Jose Bordalas.

Barça coach Xavi Hernandez is a big fan of Soler. He feels he is a top-level midfielder that would fit his team¡s style of play well.

Soler has other offers to leave Valencia but he wants to stay in Spain. The renewal offer has not been accepted and Los Che need to sell players worth around 35 million euros before June 30 to balance the accounts.

Selling Soler would be one solution, although there are other players, like Gaya and Guedes, who could help in that sense.

The Spain international, though, will only sign for Barça if De Jong is sold. Xavi sees him as an interior and the club are looking for a Busquets backup in the meantime. The candidates are: Tchouaméni (Mónaco), Zubimendi (Real Sociedad) and Rubén Neves (Wolverhampton).

At the moment, everything depends on De Jong. If he stays, Soler will listen to other offers across Europe.
