Uruguay midfielder Fabricio Díaz waiting for Barcelona... but not forever

The youngster is keen to sign for Barça but the Catalan club need to clear up their finances

Another of the operations in South America that Barcelona have on 'stand by' and cannot execute because they are pending the Financial Fair Play limit that La Liga will grant it is that of Fabricio Díaz.

The Uruguayan midfielder, captain of the Celeste in the South American Under-20, is liked across the Catalan club, who see him with the potential to reach the first team in a short space of time.

The ideal scenario, from a sporting point of view, would be to reach a transfer agreement with Liverpool Montevideo in order to bring him to Barça Atlètic this summer so that he can familiarise himself with the Barça style.

The main stumbling block, however, lies in his transfer price, which is around €6 million. And, right now, in an era of cutbacks that affect all the professional teams at the club, it is an amount that Barça may have to devote entirely to reinforcements for the first team.

Fabricio Díaz and his camp are well aware of this situation. For the moment, they have ignored the offers from Brazilian football (Flamengo and Palmeiras wanted him) and will wait for Barça... but, only to a certain extent, because other European clubs have also knocked on his door.
